Have you ever tried Komatsuna, a Japanese vegetable known for its sweet and leafy taste? It's versatile, perfect for enjoying raw or cooked.
Now, kimchi, as we all know, is a staple in Korean cuisine. Growing up in Tokyo, Japan, surrounded by a vibrant Korean community, I learned to make kimchi using Japanese vegetables, as Korean produce wasn't always readily available.
This particular kimchi recipe has been passed down through generations, from my grandma to my mother and now to me. It holds a special place in my heart, ranking as one of my personal favourites.
Thanks to the increasing availability of Japanese ingredients in Singapore, including Komatsuna, making this kimchi at home has become more accessible and affordable. I used to buy a packet of Komatsuna for $8.90, but recently snagged one for just $2.90 – a significant drop in price!
Growing up in a family that values and shares our cultural traditions with others, I feel blessed. If anyone's interested in learning how to make Komatsuna kimchi from me, I'd be more than happy to share the recipe!
