Besides informal training by her mother from a young age, she has attended the proper training from The Institute of Korean Royal Cuisine and Royal Korean Dessert in Seoul as well. She studied under Bok-Chae Han, who is the holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage as given by the Korean government.
Heryong was born in Japan and graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo. After getting married to her husband from Hong Kong, she has moved to Sydney, Australia. In 2012, she moved to Singapore with her husband and daughter. She has exposed to different cultures and cuisinesand able to combine different local ingredients into her cooking to fit the local taste buds.
She learned more about the Singaporean’s customs when she started teaching Korean cooking classes for 12 months in the community centers programs organized by the People’s Associations.
Heryong speaks fluent English, Japanese, Korean and conversational Chinese. She has conducted many classes in those languages.

Samsung Event
Samsung Singapore invited Heryong to conduct workshops on stage to more than 100 people using their kitchen products in the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

ACM Event
Asian Civilization Museum invited Heryong to conduct classes during their Korean theme event. She offered Gimbap-making workshop for families and kimchi-making workshop for adults. The workshops were fully booked out and very successful in introducing Korean cuisine.

Kia Event
KIA motors in Singapore invited Heryong to conduct family cooking workshops, and she introduced gimbap to families. The Two-day-workshops were fully booked out, and participants enjoyed making gimbap.

Hansik Contest by the Korean embassy in Singapore
Korean embassy organized the Hansik or Korean cooking contest in 2017 & 2019 in Singapore. They invited Heryong as one of the panelist judges. The events were very popular, and the embassy has highlighted the events in their official website
